At Schos, we take the privacy and security of school data seriously. Schools trust us with sensitive information about their students, teachers, and operations. We do not take that trust lightly. We do not share, sell, or provide your school's data to any third party.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide our school management services:

• School information: School name, address, contact details, and configuration preferences.
• Student records: Names, enrollment details, academic records, and attendance data as entered by the school.
• Teacher information: Names, contact details, and class assignments as entered by the school.
• Payment data: When using our integrated payment system, transaction records are processed securely through our payment partner (Paystack). We do not store card numbers or sensitive financial details on our servers.
• Usage data: Basic analytics about how the platform is used, to help us improve the service.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve the Schos platform:

• To operate and maintain your school's portals (admin, teacher, student).
• To process fee payments when using our integrated payment system.
• To send important service notifications (e.g., account approval, platform updates).
• To improve platform performance and fix issues.

4. What We Do NOT Do

To be absolutely clear:

• We do not sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
• We do not share student or teacher personal information with external parties.
• We do not use your school's data for marketing purposes.
• We do not allow other schools or users to access your data.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication (JWT tokens), and database-level access controls. Each school's data is isolated and only accessible to authorized users within that school.

6. Data Ownership

Your school owns its data. You entered it, and it belongs to you. If you ever decide to leave the Schos platform, you may request an export of your data. We will not hold your data hostage.

7. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate the platform (e.g., Paystack for payment processing, cloud hosting providers). These services are selected for their strong security and privacy practices. They only receive the minimum data necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy policies.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your school account is active on the platform. If a school account is closed, we will retain data for a reasonable period to allow for reactivation, after which it will be securely deleted.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as our platform evolves. Schools will be notified of any significant changes. The latest version will always be available on this page.
