Terms of Service

1. Overview

Schos ("we", "us", "our") provides a school management platform that helps educational institutions manage student records, teacher portals, classroom operations, and fee collection. By using our platform, you agree to these terms.

2. Our Free Tier & How We Sustain It

We believe every school deserves access to modern management tools, which is why our core platform is free. However, building and maintaining this platform requires resources. To keep the platform free and sustainable, here is how our model works:

  • Schools get full access to the Schos platform at no cost, including student management, teacher portals, results publishing, attendance tracking, and more.
  • We offer an integrated payment system for schools to collect student fees. When students pay through our system, we add a small processing fee on top of the school's fee amount. This fee is borne by the paying student/parent, not by the school.
  • 100% of the school's fee amount is remitted to the school's account. We do not deduct from the school's portion. Our revenue comes solely from the small convenience fee charged to students during payment.
  • These processing fees are kept minimal and competitive so as not to be burdensome to students and parents.

3. First Year — No Obligations

We understand that trust is earned, not assumed. That's why we offer the following commitment:

  • During your first year on Schos, there is no obligation to use our payment system. You are free to use the platform for school management while collecting fees through your existing channels.
  • This first year is for you to experience the platform, see the value it brings to your school, and decide if Schos is the right fit.
  • After the first year, if you are satisfied with our services and wish to continue using the free tier, we ask that you adopt our integrated payment system for fee collection. This is what allows us to keep the platform free for all schools.
  • Schools that prefer not to use the payment system after the first year may transition to a paid plan (when available) to continue accessing the platform.

4. School Accounts

Schools must provide accurate information during registration. Each school account is managed by a designated administrator who is responsible for the data entered into the platform. Schools retain ownership of all their data at all times.

5. Payment Processing

When schools use our integrated payment system, fee payments are processed through our payment partner (Paystack). School funds are remitted in full to the school's designated bank account. Processing times may vary but are typically within 1–3 business days. The convenience fee charged to students will always be clearly displayed before payment confirmation.

6. Acceptable Use

The platform is intended for legitimate educational institutions. Schools agree not to misuse the platform, upload harmful content, or attempt to circumvent platform security. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep the platform available at all times but cannot guarantee 100% uptime. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We will provide advance notice whenever possible for planned downtime.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Schools will be notified of significant changes via email or through the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
